People, come on! It’s 2012. It’s sooo 8 years ago to have your bank alt be a level 1 wearing the full Tuxedo set + a monocle. And why should your bank alt be just a bank alt? Why not go….DEEPER?
Anyway, here’s some of my bank alt outfits over the years and across a couple servers. Enjoy.
So, first thing’s first.
What makes a good bank alt?
The Race:
~Alliance: My bank alts over the years have been Female Gnomes. They’re cute, small, and Ironforge is nearby. They also have the + Eng racial, making them able to use goggles even at very low levels.
~Horde: For some reason, my horde banklets have always been Male Blood elves. Their starting gear is nice, and there’s a vendor in it that sells unique gear. Armor looks decent on them, as well. (then again I never really play horde)
The Class:
~Warrior: They are able to wield nearly all weapons, and all armor types, making them very good for wearing all kinds of outfits.
~Mage: Unless you plan on being a level 1, I find mages very useful because of Blink. It takes me one Blink to take me from the AH to the Mailbox/Bank in Ironforge, which can be very useful if you are in a rush.
~Death knight: Same as warrior, except they’re good for the level. They can wear higher-level gear so you won’t have to level your bank alt, and they come with useful flight-paths (in case you need the Neutral AH or similar). The only downside is getting out of the starting zone, which can take a while and gets tedious.
The Level:
Let’s face it, level 1 alts are boring. Gear is very limited, enchant glows as well, buff foods. And they all end up looking the same: wearing the tuxedo outfit+ monocle or some Lovely (color) dress and bunny ears. No more! BANK ALTS, REBEL!
I think the best level for a bank alt is 10-25. Some very nice gear is available then, including dungeon gear, class quests, profession gear. You also get to wear helms, which excludes the limit of white items and heirlooms. One of my bank alts is 15, other is 26, one is a death-knight (58?). It gives me way more choice in choosing a nice outfit, and leveling takes very little time nowadays. If you really can’t be arsed though, I suggest at least level 5 so you can get some of the starting gear from vendors.
The timeline:
I’m sure there comes a necessity for everyone to make a bank alt, like it or not. Our space is limited, some items need storing, some selling.
So, when is the best time to fancy up yer bank alt? WORLD EVENTS.
Noblegarden, Hallow’s end, Love is in the Air, Lunar Festival and nearly every other event ALL bring nice outfits that aren’t that hard to obtain, but have NO level requirements. This gear also looks very unique and can only be obtained during these events. Most of my bank alt outfits are based on some of these items, so don’t miss the next event!
(Brewfest is coming very soon, here’s a link for all the items that are available during it)
Okay I see this is too much text and no pics, so HERE’S A PIC SPAM.
THE CREEPY PUMPKIN

Oh boy the fun I’ve had with this one. I would randomly /follow some people around the town and do a /cackle once in a while
You need Hallow’s End for the head piece, or if you can find someone who sells (although temporarily) pumpkins that you can wear for a limited time. You will also need to pray to the RNG gods. Yeh.
Unless you pick another outfit (the shirt+pants), you will need some leveling for the robe. Otherwise, the helm is obtainable on a level 1.
List:
Head: Hallowed Helm / Weighted Jack-O-Lantern
Chest: Spellbinder Robe
Shirt: Green Holiday Shirt (Or you can just use this instead of a chest)
Feet and hands: Up to you. Anything dark/green/brown goes.
You can also pair it with any white weapon (sword for example) and enchant it with Fiery, makes it look good.
THE PINK BARMAID

This one is a bit odd. I was inspired after obtaining the Stein during Brewfest, and one thing led to another… So I was then a barmaid, pouring drinks for the people! (Goes well with a dwarf, too!) If you want the exact same robe you will have to wait until Lunar Festival, or you can use a pink/lavender Mageweave shirt with any pants. You can also be tipsy all the time! Be a drunk bank alt, who cares.
Sadly, if you want the goggles you will need to do some Engineering. Or, you can use another color (or change the dress color to match!)
Head: Shadow Goggles
Chest: Festive Pink Dress
Main Hand: Purple Stein (Although the Steins change color each year, not sure what this one will be!) *Or, you can use any mace that looks like a stein
Off-hand: Red Wine Glass
Again, hands and feet are up to you.
THE SORT-OF TWILIGHT CULTIST

Okay so maybe you’re a secret cultist scheming up something against your faction. Maybe you obtain items in a shady fashion and sell them for lower than usual price. Maybe you make strange deals and meet in dark corners with people who have something to sell. OR MAYBE YOU’RE AN AWESOME BANK ALT. Warning: This set might be costly.
As you can see, if you want this set you will need most of the pieces from the Silver-thread set. And if you’re a moghead like me, you KNOW this set can cost an arm and a leg in the AH thanks to Transmog. You will also need to be a higher level to wear it, but I believe it’s worth it. Staff is also a heirloom, so you might need that.
Head: Nightsky Cowl (level 30 needed)
Chest, hands, belt and shoulders are from the Silver-thread set, so I won’t link them all here.
Staff: Dignified Headmaster’s Charge
Feet: Anything dark/red/purple.
THE CUPCAKE VENDOR

This is actually my RP idea, too. I roleplay a baker, selling cupcakes, cookies, etc. It’s fun and sometimes even pays up, people can be quite generous! Also you gotta admit, this is damn cute. You will need to have a separate guild (which most banklets do nowadays) to make the tabard. You will also need to level a bit. And have someone grind you some rep. But it’s worth it, I promise!
Head: None, but feel free to use something if you find a nice match.
Chest: Barbaric Cloth Robe (It’s lovely and pink!)
Tabard: Guild tabard (Cupcake logo, or anything!)
Shirt: Cerulean Filigreed Shirt
Feet: Apprentice Boots
Mace: Cookie’s Tenderizer / Off-hand: Furbolg Medicine Pouch
Make sure you pick a class that can wield a mace. You will need some help for the Pouch, as it needs Honored with Timbermaw. Or, you can use the Wine Glass I mentioned above!
THE BLUE JEDI

(Okay I messed up the hair on my gnome so I had to edit it, that’s why it looks odd
)
NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS FOR GNOME WARRIORS.
I love this. Simple, yet effective. When you create a gnome warrior, you quest a bit and obtain a lovely 2H Light saber. Paired with the Night-elf mage starting gear, this set really looks like a jedi. (I think, never seen Star wars >_> ) This outfit is even obtainable at the very low level of 3.
Head: None, or find something fitting!
Chest: Apprentice Robe (two items by this name, so to make it easy, its the NELF MAGE starting robe)
Feet: Apprentice Boots (same as above)
Weapon: Very Light Sabre (only available for gnome warriors/ other models need min. level 60)
THAT’S IT. TLDR short, your poor banklet doesn’t have to be a snob tucked in a Tuxedo and apparently blind in one eye. Be creative, change some colors, your bank can be more than just a bank alt! IT CAN BE A FASHION STATEMENT.
Toodles!

Oh! I have seen you! I have seen your cupcake vendor and I remember snapping a screenshot ’cause I thought she was really cute and also really well dressed!
So I apologize if there was some male gnome right in front of you and that he didn’t buy anything, he can be a bit greedy, but he was really impressed
Haha! In about a week my website will be featuring a Leia entry with this exact set of gear! The Knelf starter area outfit + the Argent Defender, a light-saber no longer available in game. Very sweet to know there is an alternative to that for certain characters. GW!
